Beacon Barracks

Morleys were thrilled to be appointed as the FF&E consultant for this new modular build 75 bed single living accommodation for the Ministry of Defence Beacon Barracks in Staffordshire. A £10m DiO contract awarded under the CCS Framework to Algeco UK. Morleys worked closely with Algeco UK to supply the full loose and fitted FF&E packages. 

PROJECT SCOPE

Built using modern methods of construction (MMC) the new purpose-built accommodation block for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DiO) was delivered by Algeco UK for the British Army. It provides 75 high quality single bedrooms with ensuites, integral communal lounges, specialist dry room/changing areas and kitchenettes.  

How we delivered

Working in close partnership with multiple project stakeholders, including Algeco UK OSS, MOD Stafford and HLM Architects we developed a design scheme through design engagement discussions to incorporate the architect’s colour palette of Kendal oak, Pebble grey and Glacier white. Our design creates functional, comfortable and highly durable spaces for soldiers to sleep, relax, eat and socialise. Using BIM and integrated Revit software we created 3D visualisations of each area for the client to visualise how the FF&E would look in situ. 

Adhering to stringent UK fire safety regulations we supplied CRIB 5, BS 7176 standard mattresses to accompany the single storage beds, creating comfortable and practical bedroom spaces with desking and seating. The dry rooms were fitted with specialist cloakroom benches and hanging rails using Epoxy powder coated steel and hardwood for durability, suitable for washroom environments. To create collaborative and relaxing communal areas we selected bespoke banquette seating, button stitch sofas for a more homely look and feel, a varied selection of different seating options using large meeting tables with task chairs and smaller breakout zones using bistro style furniture, poseur height stools and upholstered lounge chairs. 

We completed installation adhering to strict site security procedures and using our in-house CSCS certified team to deliver the FF&E for this project on time and within budget for our client.
