The Learning Experience (TLE®) is an international nursery chain, founded in Florida in 1980, which has grown to 275 settings and expanded into the UK. Built on an ethos of making education and daycare joyful, engaging and fun, they ensure settings are enabled and inclusive so each child can reach their full potential and are prepared for the world they are growing up and living in. As the second TLE® Centre we have been involved with, we worked closely with both the contractor and the architect to preserve the TLE® brand identity, distinguished by a cast of unique characters and a bright colour palette that brings learning to life.

Through design engagement discussions we worked in partnership with project stakeholders to understand the bespoke millwork requirements for the project and ensure the fitted furniture designs were manufactured to the precise specification stipulated by the architect. Intricate product design details were created to produce a unique step unit for the child changing counter, which was integrated within the sink unit, accommodating built-in cupboards and a privacy screen with a bespoke one-handed locking mechanism. This was carefully designed to ensure the safety of the young children using it and encouraging them to be independent. It also allows the education practitioners to be confident children can access the changing facilities safely without the need for them to risk strain or injury from lifting the older children. We paid attention to the height requirements of the storage units supplied for the rooms – infants (12 weeks to one year), toddlers (1-2 years), twaddlers (2-3 years), preppers (2.5-3.5 years) and preschool (3-5 years) to ensure resources and equipment are accessible.

We also supplied lockers, a changing bench and meeting tables and chairs for the staff area, bespoke desking and storage in brand colours for the admin offices and a showstopping bespoke fitted reception counter with hidden storage for the reception space.

Located in the middle of a busy town centre with tight access, we used our own fleet to overcome logistical challenges to complete a successful on-time and in-full installation, creating an inspiring and tailor-made environment ready to welcome children for a unique and inspiring early education experience.
