Tormead School is a private day school for girls aged 4–18 years old in Guildford, Surrey. Founded in 1905 it boasts a rich heritage of academic excellence alongside a commitment to embracing innovation and technology through first-rate facilities. The Senior School identified a requirement to refurbish the learning environments for the Maths and Modern Languages faculties and the Design Technology room.

Through design engagement meetings with the Head of Estates & Facilities and the Head of Modern Languages, we created 3D visual renders of how the furniture would look in situ. Our designs carefully considered the contemporary aesthetics of the school, creating synergy and consistency with the clean lines and modern white and grey colour palette throughout.

The bespoke Teacher Wall design accommodated the beautiful high suspended ceilings by ensuring storage was at an accessible height and the visual aids maximised the use of the space. The integrated teacher desk design was engineered to ensure ample workspace and a clear line of vision with the students. The Teacher Walls and the lockers were finished in warm wood with white accents. The Cogent tables for the student desking were selected for their sturdy and high-quality circular frames, paired with Maestro skid base chairs for their contemporary, durable, and ergonomic design.

In the Design Technology room, we installed bespoke bench desking along the perimeter with neat and tidy cable management. In the centre of the room, we supplied specialist drafting tables with Postura task seating for students to use as Research & Development concept stations, before moving on to using ICT equipment for CAD, and progressing their designs to prototypes using the 3D printer.

Our in-house Project Management and Installation teams worked closely with the school’s ICT team to co-ordinate the logistics of the interactive screens.
