PROJECT SCOPE
Trinity High School and Sixth Form Centre is a 13-18 co-educational academy school located in central Redditch, Worcestershire. Founded in 1932, it was originally a grammar school, converting to a comprehensive in 1974. In 2004, Trinity became a Business and Enterprise specialist school, and in 2011 it became Redditch’s first independent state funded Academy. It is now part of the Bordesley Multi-Academy Trust and celebrates cultural diversity, with around 25% of the students coming from minority ethnic backgrounds. The majority of these are of Pakistani origin, with many speaking English as an additional language. The school identified a need to refurbish their Sixth Form Centre to create an inclusive, attractive, and welcoming space for the students.
How we delivered
Through design engagement meetings with Jeremy Petit, Assistant Head (Post 16), we created photorealistic 3D renders so the client could visualise the spatial layout and how the furniture would look in situ.
Our design carefully considered how the school use the space as an assembly area for students, and with this in mind we selected furniture that is flexible, mobile, and can be easily reconfigured. This ensures students and teaching staff have a collaborative and adaptable multi-use environment.
We ensured the new furniture complimented the legacy furniture, providing students with a variety of different seating options. There are clear zones for breakout spaces, study areas and sofas and soft seating options for relaxing and socialising. The upholstery is fun and vibrant and reflect the school’s brand colours.
Our in-house installation team installed the new furniture within the summer holidays so the students could return to their refurbished and modernised Post 16 Centre at the start of the new academic term.
