Our experienced Furniture Consultants assess the space and measure up or work from detailed floor plans. The Department for Education’s ‘Building Bulletin 103 (BB103)’gives non-statutory guidance on space requirements for school office and meeting areas. General admin offices should provide workspace for admin staff for confidential records and have a reception desk to connect the entrance/reception area with the guideline recommending 7m² per administrator. The reception should have a secure visitor area controlling access to the rest of the school. This area should include seating and display, not just circulation. There must be an interview/meeting room, ideally located off the reception foyer, so that visitors can use it without entering the main school. For the Headteacher’s office, the guideline suggests 16m² so that it can also be used as a general meeting space.

We observe key regulations such as Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER, workplace welfare rules and fire-safety laws such as the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) Safety Regulations and relevant crib-rated standards for upholstered seating. For student furniture we specify BS EN 1729 certified products for strength and stability. We can advise on sustainable materials, durability, function, maintenance and aesthetics.
